Tough luck for for Sean Hudspeth and JMW Motorsport Team at Spa, after showing strong pace in the race.
The JMW Motorsport team were optimistic after a strong stint by Sean Hudspeth, however a slightly early pitstop for the first driver change put them on the back foot as they were caught out by a full course yellow 2 laps later and a tyre puncture 15 minutes from the end.
“To be honest I was a little confused because first the team told me that they were going to keep Giacomo out for a few more laps in case there was a full course yellow, in which case, we would essentially get a ‘free’ pit stop. Immediately after, I see our car driving down the pit lane and had to scramble to get ready for the driver change. 2 laps into my stint, the FCY came out and our rivals ended up getting the free stop while we were going slowly out on track. It’s a little frustrating as pace was good enough for a top 3 finish and it’s not like we were low on fuel so I don’t understand why we didn’t just stay out for a few more laps because there was debris on track and an FCY was very likely. Anyway it wouldn’t have made much of a difference in the end because we got a puncture with about 15 minutes to go. Tough one for the whole team but there are lots of positives to take into the next round at Portimao” – Sean
