Technical Issue Potentially Costs JMW Motorsport Podium Finish at Monza
Singaporean Sean Hudspeth and team JMW Motorsport were looking in good form during the race, running in the top 4 positions when an issue with the driver’s side door forced them to spend an additional 20 seconds in the pitstops. Without this, they would have been right in the lead pack, fighting for a podium finish.
“It’s a tough one because everyone worked so hard this weekend. Unfortunately the top of the door wouldn’t close properly which meant that with the A/C on, the cockpit temperature was getting too high (about 10 degrees hotter than the other Ferrari’s and the limit set by the regulations). If we had continued like that, we would have risked getting a penalty so there was no choice but to stop and fix it. Moreover, for a second race in a row, the drink system wasn’t working which made the hot temperature inside the cockpit even more challenging. We had a few other minor issues such as the gearbox not getting into first gear after the pitstop which cost us a few seconds, and a number of mis-shifts during the race. Nevertheless, we’ll push on and work harder for the next one after the summer break!” – Sean
